Title: The official drink of Carcassonne...?
Post by: CKorfmann on August 03, 2009, 08:11:26 PM
What game of Carcassonne would be complete without some sort of liquid refreshment?  From all the posts, I'd guess most people drink beer.  If I was judging by the photos, I'd have to say wine.  It was the old faithful Mt. Dew for my old D&D sessions.  I think Mt.Dew is the offical RPG gamers drink for both table top and online gamers.  They even have two new "Game Fuel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Dew_Game_Fuel)" flavors devoted to WoW here in the states.  At home years ago, there was another drink called Bawls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bawls) that was really popular in Comic and Game stores.  Some of you are no doubt familiar with it.

So, what do you drink when you play Carcassonne?  I'd have to say I usually stick with the Dew.  Throwback is my fav.

We normally drink wine, cocktails or a nice scotch (Glenlivet 21yr or Bruichladdich cask strength). Makes for some interesting games after a while ...   ;) :)~

No alcohol here.  We usually drink water or pop when we play during the summer.  Hubby drinks coffee, and I drink hot herbal tea when we play during the cold Ohio winters.  :)

My wife and I are currently enjoying Gamay Noirs if we are drinking Red Wine. Quite often though, I will imbide a hoppy IPA and she is partial to stouts & porters.

Good games + good beverages + good company = Great evening.

the only "ale" we've got here is O'Keefe... and that sucks!!

the euro beers(or ALE for the pointilleux) are really special, all great!!

p.s. you can call soda whatever you wants, BUT... any stupid drinks who makes bubbles without getting drunk the drinker IS a soda.

I managed to drink a full 2L in one evening a few weeks ago. This past Friday I only drank half.

It most certainly has sugar, else I wouldn't touch the stuff. The American practice of serving yesterday's tea and requiring you to add your own sugar is perposterous. I like my iced tea made in a factory.

I'm American and I'm not aware of that practice.  I live in the south and the tea here is so sweet when you stir it, your spoon just about stands up by itself.  They are not kidding when they call it sweet tea!  It's very yummy, but addictive!  <35

In the north and west United States, "iced tea" is just regular tea at room temperature with some ice cubes in it. It wasn't until last year that somebody mentioned to me you're supposed to add your own sugar. Fortunately for me and my past experiences, waitresses in restaurants are very forgiving when I explained I was from Canada where iced tea tastes completely different. In recent years, those restaurants which are licensed by Coca-Cola are serving raspberry-flavored Nestea iced tea which is also made in a factory and tastes very good.

Man, you need to try the real thing!  If you are ever in a gas station and see Tradwinds or Arizona brand iced teas, look for the Southern Sweet Tea.  It's not quite the real thing, but it's a close as you'll get from a factory.  McDonald's has been selling in too, at least in the south.

Personally, I think the official drink of Carcassonne should be either something that originates from the city of Carcassonne (France, naturally) or else something completely original, invented purely for this game.

Gantry I like this one then as it fits the bill nicely.

Wild Pig Merlot.

Located in the Languedoc area, the vineyards spreadfrom the banks of the Rhône river in the East to the city of Carcassonne in the West, from the foothills of the Massif Central mountains in the North to the Mediterranean sea in the South.

I usually drink diet dew with some squirts of cherry flavoring in it.

If I'm in a mood, I'll throw down some 100 proof schnapps or some whiskey.  Maybe some beer, just depends.

It's Pepsi and Mountain Dew for us...but more importantly is the adhering to the House Rule...NO DRINKS ON THE TABLE. haha - we've had some bad mishaps over the years.

Had some smiles reading this topic.
I think that misty we drink wine or beer. More % is not so good idea since we often play megacarc (for that reason I had a game with friends and don't know how won cause point man cleaned score track before looking at it, and yes we have some schoth on table).
Still sometimes we play with tea only or similiar.
