Well, don't get it wrong, but I don't seem to like Brit beer. Portuguese beer is far better.. You got to drive off this little corner and give it a try. Foreign people adore it ... too much!!!! (if you know what I mean) particulary at football (soccer) games...

What style of beer? Any brands in particular I should look for?

Guinness—rare in Germany, so I don't drink it often.
Erdinger Krystal Hefe—there are other brands, but Erdinger is the best.
Salvator Starkbier—about 8% and a beautiful golden red ;-)

Oh dear... Oh dear dear dear!!!  Grin Stella, fosters, Boddingtions, guiness Bang head I said REAL ALE chaps, not fizzy pop!!

A pint of Fullers ESB, the best beer you can buy.
Had several excellent pints of Otter on Friday along with Cornwall's finest, St Austell HSD.
Someone mentioned Shepherd Neame.. Now there's a real brewery.

Anyway, End of April is the Newton Abbot (in Devon, UK) Real Ale festival and I will, as always, be there... Look for the guy Sipping Exmoor Beast and searching out the RCH Firebox!!

ESB is not that exciting. It is rather bland, come to think of it. :P I would say that London Pride is more to my taste (even though it does not reach top 10 either). Ale can be a lot of things, and right now I do prefer IPA. There has been popping up quite afew new brands and I have been testing them as far as I been able to. I had one bottle of XS Imperial Indian Pale Ale, which might be the most bitter beer I have ever tasted. Great stuff! Another one of my favourites right now is St. Peters IPA, which is a little less bitter, almost smooth, and a perfect after work beer! Smiley St. Peters is the producer of a really nice cream stout and winter ale as well. The Winter ale is fantastic.

I'm with Joff, I've never had a beer that I actually liked.

Hey, there you go!  Nothing like a good root beer... except maybe a good birch beer, red or white.  Ginger beer is not a good option though.
