March 1, 2009 is Carcassonne Central's 2nd Anniversary, and we are giving away some prizes in celebration! The contest would simply pick random members out of any who post throughout the month of March 2009, and award prizes.  The timing of the contest is as per board timezone, which should be GMT-8. Been playing Carcassonne for ages now, so long in fact that I don't have 'The River'. Thought I could do without it didn't I. I love the idea for the box, but I don't like using the tower to draw. The bag is way better. That being said, I really wish they would make some cool collector set like a fair trade, hand painted set of bamboo tiles and meeples or something green and hippie like that. Heck throw an 'Obama approved' logo on it. Even at a fair wage, a set like that could be done up for less than $50 in Chaing Mai with one of the well-respected artisan groups of people escaping sex slavery, and the retail could sacrifice typical 3x retail mark up to keep it under $150. A set like that could garner more publicity for Carcassonne and related titles than even getting us all to return to the forumns with this email prize drawing! (kudos to the web marketing director, whoever you may be).

Thanks for being =THE= on-line resource on Carcassonne beginners and experienced players all.  When we first got into Carc last year and found we had rules for farms etc. very different from our friends, it was great to be able to find threads disucssing it here (and solve our disputes!).  Now the whole family plays, and even our teen's friends play.

Carcassonne has been a staple game for my family for a good few years now, and although we have since bought Catan, Agricola and Puerto Rico, we still return to Carcassonne on a regular basis.

I have my carefully stapled copy of the annotated rules stored in my Big Box, and it is still referred to from time to time, so thank you very much for such a great resource.

The box looks nice, but when we travel we pack as many Carcassonne expansions and variants as we can into one box to keep the weight down.  I'd much rather have New World - great game!

Since I first discovered Carcassonne, I've come to enjoy it quite a bit, going so far as to buy all the expansions to date. (except for The Catapult - just seems silly to me.)
I hope eventually to acquire some of the fan-made expansions, but for now I think I'll just enter this contest thingy.

I respectfully disagree. While I hope that those who want to contribute also do this, I can not see the point of forcing anyone to write, or in fact, do anything that they do not want to. I look upon this forum, not only as meeting place to discuss a game, but also as an online encyklopedia of sorts. The amount of information is huge, and it is freely available for anyone who wishes to read it. I am pretty sure that this will not change in the near future - if ever.

So, feel free to contribute and discuss, but feel equally free to hang back.

Tobias, I agree.  I have been on here for a short time and posted my first reply to this competition thread.  This is more a reflection on the amount of information already available (especially within the annoted rules), which mean that I am only going to answer or start the odd post about expansion possbilities or a particularly good (or bad) game I have had, as well as other things, but I generally do not feel that I have a huge amoutn to offer at present.  This does not mean to say I do not read it regularly or appreciate any less all the work that people put in to this site.

Thanks for standing by us newbies who are not blessed with the time you guys have to develop and grow this site.

Tkx Tobias... also putted my first post on this forum because of this contest. I rather use the forum as a source of information and feel no need to discuss the rules of an already wonderful game. I keep purchasing extra expansions (already have 5 modules) and it stays Nr 1 on my list of games.
It is great that so many people from all over the world have come out to post in what I consider a great initiative.
